How fares work on the Tbilisi Metro
The Tbilisi Metro uses a simple flat fare: ₾1 per ride with a Metromoney card, no matter how far you travel. There are no zones. Better still, one ₾1 tap buys 90 minutes of unlimited transfers across the metro and Tbilisi city buses — so a metro ride, a bus, and another metro ride within 90 minutes all cost a single ₾1.
You pay with a rechargeable Metromoney card (a one-time ₾2 for the card itself), which you tap at the gate. Contactless bank cards and Apple/Google Pay are also accepted at the gates. Children under 6 travel free.
The Metromoney card
The Metromoney card is the standard stored-value card for Tbilisi public transport. Buy it for ₾2 at any metro station kiosk or customer-service desk and load it with credit; ₾1 is deducted per journey (with free transfers inside the 90-minute window).
Top up at station kiosks, ticket machines and Bank of Georgia express-pay points. A single Metromoney card can be tapped for several people at once at the gate — useful when travelling as a group.

Travel cards (unlimited)
Unlimited-ride passes for metro and bus. All six packages as published by TTC, checked in August 2026. They load onto a Metromoney card; none of them can be bought in the app.

Metromoney balance tracker
There is no public app for live Metromoney balance lookup — your balance shows at station kiosks and gates. This tool lets you track your balance privately in your browser: enter your last known balance, simulate trips, and see what remains. Everything stays on your device — nothing is sent to us.

The 90 minutes are not automatic — it depends how you pay
The ₾1 that buys 90 minutes of unlimited transfers applies when you pay with a Metromoney card or a bank card at the gate. TTC states plainly that a passenger paying through the mobile app, or in cash on the buses that still have cash machines, does not get the 90-minute package. On a metro-bus-metro chain that is the difference between paying ₾1 and paying three times.
Keep the receipt they give you with the card
The card costs ₾2 and is not personal — no ID is needed to buy one. But the receipt from the payment office is what proves it is yours: if the card is lost or damaged it can only be restored with that receipt.
You can also return the card within one month and get the ₾2 back, again with the receipt.
Lost or damaged card: two stations handle it
The problematic-card centres are at Avlabari and Medical University stations — not at every station.
A card that fails on its own is replaced free. A card damaged by the owner — bent, folded, misused — costs ₾2 again. For a lost card you report it there with the receipt and the number is blocked automatically; the balance moves to a new card only after you have bought that new card.
Where to buy, top up and check the balance
Buy and top up at the payment office of any metro station, at both stations of the Rike–Narikala ropeway, and at Bank of Georgia express machines and service centres.
You see the remaining balance when you tap through the gate, on a bus ticket, and at the payment offices.
The same card works on the ropeways
Metromoney is valid on the metro, city buses, minibuses and the Rike–Narikala ropeway. The ropeway is ₾2.50 one way — it is not covered by the ₾1 fare.
The Turtle Lake ropeway is ₾1.00 one way, and carrying a bicycle costs another ₾1.00.
Concessions exist, but the operator does not publish the list
TTC says reduced and free fares apply on the metro, buses and the Bagebi–University ropeway for people of various social statuses, without publishing a table of who qualifies and for how much. We will not guess at it: ask at a station payment office with your documents.
