Station Square ↔ State University
Line 2, the Saburtalo Line, is the green line of the Tbilisi Metro. Its core opened on 18 September 1979, branching west from Station Square to serve the growing Saburtalo district. It was later extended to Vazha-Pshavela (2000) — the first metro station built in independent Georgia — and to State University (2017), its current western terminus.
All seven stations are underground. The line threads the university quarter, passing the Georgian Technical University, the Tbilisi State Medical University, Delisi and Vazha-Pshavela before reaching Tbilisi State University.
Line 2 meets Line 1 (Akhmeteli–Varketili) at Station Square (Sadguris Moedani) — the only interchange in the network, where transferring is free. Trains run daily from about 06:00 to midnight, every 2.5–3 minutes at peak. The flat fare is ₾1.
