About Didube

Didube is one of the original 1966 stations on Line 1 (Akhmeteli–Varketili, the red line) and, unusually, an above-ground surface station rather than a deep-bored one. It lends its name to the busy Didube district in north-western Tbilisi.

The station is best known as a transport gateway. Right beside it lies the sprawling Didube bus station and marshrutka terminal, the city’s principal departure point for intercity minibuses and buses heading west and out across Georgia — to Kutaisi, Batumi, Gori, Mtskheta and many other towns. The crush of passengers, traders and drivers makes it one of the liveliest spots on the network.

Architecturally, Didube is recognisable for its distinctive winged concrete roof sheltering the platforms. For travellers, it functions as a vital interchange where the metro meets the country’s intercity road transport.
