About Samgori

Samgori is an underground station on Line 1 (Akhmeteli–Varketili, the red line) of the Tbilisi Metro, opened in 1971. It anchors the working-class Samgori district in the south-east of the city and is one of Tbilisi’s biggest and busiest transport interchanges.

Above the station is the Samgori bus and marshrutka station, from which minibuses leave for eastern Georgia and the Kakheti region, alongside a suburban railway connection. The nearby Navtlughi market adds a constant flow of shoppers and traders, making the whole area one of the most crowded transport nodes in the city.

Because so many modes meet here, Samgori handles heavy passenger numbers throughout the day. Most of its traffic is everyday commuters and travellers transferring between the metro, intercity minibuses and the railway rather than sightseers.
