About Vazha-Pshavela

Vazha-Pshavela is an underground station on Line 2 (Saburtalo, the green line) of the Tbilisi Metro. Opened in 2000, it holds a special place in the network’s history as the first metro station built in independent Georgia, after the Soviet era. It is named after Vazha-Pshavela Avenue, which in turn honours one of Georgia’s greatest poets and writers.

The station sits on a major avenue along the Saburtalo and Vake edge, surrounded by shops, businesses, supermarkets and bus links. This is one of the most active modern districts of Tbilisi, and the station handles heavy daily traffic from residents, office workers and shoppers.

On the green line, Vazha-Pshavela connects this busy commercial corridor eastward toward the centre and westward to the newest stations at the end of Line 2.
