About Gotsiridze
Gotsiridze is an original 1966 surface station on Line 1 (Akhmeteli–Varketili, the red line), set in the Didube district of north-western Tbilisi. It holds a unique distinction in the city’s metro.
It is the only side-platform station in the entire Tbilisi network — instead of a single island platform between the tracks, it has two separate platforms on either side. The structure perches on concrete pillars above a working railway depot, and a pedestrian bridge carries passengers across to Tsereteli Avenue.
The surroundings are largely residential and industrial, shaped by the rail yards below and the apartment blocks nearby. After years of wear, the station was re-roofed and reopened in 2023, giving this quirky elevated stop a fresh, weather-tight cover while preserving its unusual layout.
