Welcome to the Tbilisi Metro
The Tbilisi Metro opened on 11 January 1966, the fourth metro built in the former USSR. Today it carries around half a million passengers a day on two lines and 23 stations across the Georgian capital. Line 1 (Akhmeteli–Varketili) runs north–south through the city centre, while Line 2 (Saburtalo) branches west; the two meet at Station Square, the network’s single interchange. A flat ₾1 fare with a 90-minute transfer window makes it the fastest and cheapest way to cross Tbilisi.
