About Tsereteli

Tsereteli is an underground station on Line 2 (Saburtalo, the green line) of the Tbilisi Metro, opened in 1979. It takes its name from Akaki Tsereteli Avenue, the broad thoroughfare it serves, which honours Akaki Tsereteli — one of the most celebrated poets and public figures of nineteenth-century Georgia.

The station sits on the boundary between the Didube and Saburtalo districts, in a busy mix of older apartment blocks, ground-floor shops and small businesses. Its location close to the Didube area gives it a steady flow of commuters, with local trade and street-level services clustered around the entrances.

For passengers, Tsereteli is a convenient mid-line stop that links the Saburtalo corridor with the rest of the green line. Heading east, trains run toward the city centre; heading west, they climb through Saburtalo toward the modern districts at the end of the line.
